Gigs, Gigs and More Gigs!!!

As a wise old sage once told The Merles, "a gig is still a gig, even if you spell it backwards."

He then rambled on about some big ole word that sounded like the fancy word for an elephant but it just means that the word is spelled the same forwards and backwards.  Got excited for a moment when he started talking about a racecar but then he just started talking something about a man, a plan, a canal, Panama. Huh? We eventually just ordered another round of cold Lone Stars while our new pal, he just droned on.

Back to that gig thing.  The Merles have a bunch of them coming up and we sure would like to see ya at them.  So if you like classic country music, dancing and cold Lone Stars come on out and have a good time with us. Visit the SHOWS PAGE for complete details.

Well hello there 2015!

2015 is here and she's a lookin' mighty fine.

The Merles started 2015 off with a bang with shows at The White Horse and The Broken Spoke.  Got a feelin' that 2015 might just be a real hum-dinger of a year for The Merles.  We have some new venues on the horizon along with return dates to the venues that treated us so well in 2014.  So if you like classic honky tonk music go check out the UPCOMING SHOWS page and make plans to share a cold Lone Star with The Merles sometime soon.  Yep!

Happy Holidays!

The Merles would like to wish each and every one of you a happy holiday season.

As 2014 comes to a close we would like to thank you all for making this such a great year for us. We released a recording, played a bunch of new venues and are in the process of putting together a new batch of songs.  We have a handful of gigs remaining this year so please come on out and wrap up that cold Lone Star with koozie and put a bow on it.

Visit the Show Page for all the details.

Broken Spoke and much more!

The Merles are excited to be returning to the front room of the legendary Broken Spoke dancehall in Austin, TX.  Early, happy hour show (6-8pm), no cover and the food is awesome.  The baked taters look huge and the chicken-fried steak looks mighty delicious.

As an added bonus Eleven Hundred Springs is playing the dancehall after our show.  These guys are long time friends of The Merles and put on one helluva show.  So put on your favorite pair of boots and join us for dinner and stick around with us for the dancing.

Visit the Broken Spoke website for more details.

Don't forget to visit our Show Page for a full listing of upcoming Merles gigs.

Thanks, thanks a lot!

Good things are happening for The Merles.  Thanks to the clubs and booking agents for giving us a chance and a huge thanks to everyone for coming out, drinking, dancing and have a good old time with our style of classic country.  Like they say, if a guitar twangs in a honky tonk, and nobody is there to hear it, did it really twang at all?  Thanks for making the twang heard!

Have some more great gigs coming up in August and September such as
  • Saturday, August 9th @ Patsy's Cafe
  • Saturday, August 23rd @ Freddie's Place
  • Saturday, Sept 6 @ Patsy's Cafe
  • Friday, Sept  19th @ Broken Spoke (front room, happy hour 6-8)
Check out the Show Page for updates and full details.

Welcome to the new website of The Merles

Howdy.  Thanks for checking out our fancy new website.  We just launched it and are working to add some new features and content.  Since The Merles are a full-service honky tonk band; we would like your feedback, thoughts, typo corrections and more.  Find it amusing creating a website for a band that plays music from a time well before control-alt-delete was ever invented.  Curious what the twitter feed of Ernest Tubb would have been like.  Anyways, feel free to post thought, suggestions and corrections below.  Thanks, The Merles
