News & Notes

Happy 4th of July

The Merles love the 4th of July.

BBQs, fireworks, coolers filled with ice-cold Lone Stars, hanging out with friends and family, and celebrating the good ole United States of America.  When you think it can't get any better, it does.  We are very excited to be playing two of our favorite Austin venues over the 4th of July weekend.

It's a North/South two step holiday weekend.  On Friday night we play South Austin's favorite pizza and brewery at The ABGB.  Then on Saturday we head up north to the honkiest tonkiest jukejoint around-- Ginny's Little Longhorn Saloon.  Visit the Upcoming Shows page for full details.

Doggone good time.

The Merles would like to thank the Buda, TX Lions Club for inviting us to play their annual Wiener Dog Races Festival.  What a cool event.

We had a grand ole time with a great audience and amazing hospitality.  Big tip of the hat to everybody that made it out, danced, clapped along, bought CDs and for being such a lovely audience.  We also really want to thank everyone who helped make it happen.  It was an honor to be a part of such a great event.

The Texas Bucket List features The Merles

The Merles are very excited to be the featured artist this week on The Texas Bucket List!

They filmed us performing live at The Broken Spoke a few weeks back and not only did they use our performance as the background music for their piece about The Broken Spoke, they are also making us the featured musical act in this week's episode.  The show is syndicated on TV stations across Texas so visit TheTexasBucketList.com
for air times in your area.  We will add a video link of the performance when it becomes available.

Featured Artist--KCWM 1460

This week The Merles are the featured CD on KCWM 1460 out of Hondo, TX. We're very excited to be added to this great station that specializes in classic country. Tune in Thursday, March 26th at 8:30am to listen to a live interview with lead-singer Todd Deatherage.

If you live outside of the broadcast range listen in via the  LIVE STREAM.

Gigs, Gigs and More Gigs!!!

As a wise old sage once told The Merles, "a gig is still a gig, even if you spell it backwards."

He then rambled on about some big ole word that sounded like the fancy word for an elephant but it just means that the word is spelled the same forwards and backwards.  Got excited for a moment when he started talking about a racecar but then he just started talking something about a man, a plan, a canal, Panama. Huh? We eventually just ordered another round of cold Lone Stars while our new pal, he just droned on.

Back to that gig thing.  The Merles have a bunch of them coming up and we sure would like to see ya at them.  So if you like classic country music, dancing and cold Lone Stars come on out and have a good time with us. Visit the SHOWS PAGE for complete details.

Well hello there 2015!

2015 is here and she's a lookin' mighty fine.

The Merles started 2015 off with a bang with shows at The White Horse and The Broken Spoke.  Got a feelin' that 2015 might just be a real hum-dinger of a year for The Merles.  We have some new venues on the horizon along with return dates to the venues that treated us so well in 2014.  So if you like classic honky tonk music go check out the UPCOMING SHOWS page and make plans to share a cold Lone Star with The Merles sometime soon.  Yep!

Happy Holidays!

The Merles would like to wish each and every one of you a happy holiday season.

As 2014 comes to a close we would like to thank you all for making this such a great year for us. We released a recording, played a bunch of new venues and are in the process of putting together a new batch of songs.  We have a handful of gigs remaining this year so please come on out and wrap up that cold Lone Star with koozie and put a bow on it.

Visit the Show Page for all the details.

Broken Spoke and much more!

The Merles are excited to be returning to the front room of the legendary Broken Spoke dancehall in Austin, TX.  Early, happy hour show (6-8pm), no cover and the food is awesome.  The baked taters look huge and the chicken-fried steak looks mighty delicious.

As an added bonus Eleven Hundred Springs is playing the dancehall after our show.  These guys are long time friends of The Merles and put on one helluva show.  So put on your favorite pair of boots and join us for dinner and stick around with us for the dancing.

Visit the Broken Spoke website for more details.

Don't forget to visit our Show Page for a full listing of upcoming Merles gigs.
